[By Tblbqeaph.] [Per s.s. Ringarooma, at the Bluff. | [“ Aqb ” Special.] LONDON, January 9. The Dutch at Natal are showing signs of disaffection. It is rumored that Fotchefstroom has been attacked by the Boers, and has surrendered. There has been an exposure at'Birmingham of overtures on the part of ‘the Nihilists, for the construction of infernal machines for the purpose of destroying docks in Russian porti. There have been 1100 evictions and 1700 outrages in Ireland during the last eleven months. The betting is 2 to 1 on Hanlon for the forthcoming boat race, but he is keeping very quiet. Jan. Orelly, of Roscommon, and other Leaguers of the hottest, are proving very obstructive. Yesterday they made use of the forms of the House, and|delayed the progress of business over three hours. A scene of confusion followed, and the attitude assumed by the leaguers has generally been condemned. The members of the Irish Land League are prosecuting the agitation with continued vigor. They have threatened to bring before illege.l courts which they have established, all tenants who do not sympathise with the general purpose of the leaguers, and give the movement substantial support. CAPETOWN, December 20.
The Native outbreak still continues. The colony has now in the field nearly 18,000 men, of which number about one-half are Native allies. The others are mostly Volunteers and Burghers Cape Biflemen, of European descent. Colonel Wavells secured a victory over Temleus, and killed some 500 rebels, besides .capturing a large number of live stock at Leribe. Our force met a slight disaster by eleven of our men being cut off and killed by the enemy. Altogether it is impossible to predict the duration of the war, as the Volunteers claim to be relieved after three months’ service in the field. On the 16th instant Colonel Wavel made a further capture of 1400 cattle and 600 sheep from Tembus, also killed ten Tembua. In Basutoland Colonel Carrington had a sharp engagement with a large body of Basutos rebels, and repulsed them. The Tranuvaal Boers elected Kruger Vice-Presi-dent, and Volksraad Joubert CommandantGeneral. Matters there are very disturbed.
