MUNICIPAL MATTERS IN DUNEDIN.
It will be seen from the following extract from the city treasurer’s statement, which was submitted at a meeting of the Dunedin City Council on Tuesday, that the corporation affairs are not in a very flourishing condition :—“ Municipal Department—To amount of sundry accounts, asphalting, &c , say £3OO ; ditto at debit of No. 1 account in Bank of New Zealand, £10,039 5s 8d; total, £10,339 5s 81 ; debit balance, £10,339 5s Bd. Water Department—To balance No. 3 race contract, £6OO ; ditto fencing ditto, £323; ditto fencing No. 2 contract, £481; amount required for wire, say £250; balance of reservoir contract, £8 8j 9d ; amount of plant ordered and to arrive, say £9OO ; total, £2562 8j 91. By amount at credit of No. 2 account in Bank of New Zealand, £lO7l 2a 2d ; debit balance, £1491 6j 7d ; total, £2562 8s 9d. Gas Department—To amount balance of bolder, say £l5O ; do. of plant ordered to arrive, £2050 ; do. buildings for above, £IOOO ; total, £3200. By amount at credit in Bank of New Zealand, No. 3 account, £772 3s ; debit balance, £2427 17s ; total, £3200.
