THE LATE DROWNING CASE IN THE TEREMAKAU.

There was drowned in the Teremakau reoently a man, name unknown. The description of him furnished by the looal police is—Ago, about twenty-eight yoars, sft lOin or sft llin in height, rather goodlooking, very dark hair, and dark complexion. On the body were a Crimean shirt (no flannel), printed moleskins, with a dark stripe on a lighter ground. Water-tights, much worn, and not slop-made. He further stated that he had a brother in a bank in (or near) Christ - church, *rom which plooe he had come shortly before. When asked his name, he said that he had been called "Boko," and that was near enough for him. (This was evidently not his real name.) He said he had come from Christchurch by way of Braces station, and when he left Kumara ho deolared his intention of returning by the same route. He was apparently an Englishman. The man seen at Kumara wore a leather belt, and in it a derringer. He. alsohad papers in the belt.
