[Bt Tbxbsbaph.] [Per s.s. Botomahana, at Russell. DURBAN, January 4. Tbe rebellion of the Boers is daily acquiring i act eased importance. In view of the fact that the colonial troops in tho Transvaal are unable to undertake active operations against them pending the arrival of reinforcements now en route to this place, the rebeli hive assumed offensive operations, and have despatched all their available forces to tbe South. The recent interruption of communication i« attributed to their having advanced, and they have to-day entered the province of Natal and taken up a position in the direct route to the Transvaal. The object of this move is to intercept and oppose the advance of th a troops that left here and prevent their effecting; a junction with the garrisons at Anderson and Wachterstroom. CONSTANTINOPLE, January 2. The announcement already made that the Porto refused to submit the Greek frontier question, to the arbitration of the Powers is fully confirmed. Friish nroposals have been made by the Turk sh Government for the settlement of the Gree'i frontier difficulty, to the effect that a conference of representatives of all the Greal, Powers should be held here at an early date, that the Greek Government should be invited to send delegates, and that the conference nhould be empowered to finally settle the questions at issue.
