MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : TUESDAY, JANUARY 11. For Australian Colonies (except New South Wales and Queensland) and Otago, per s.s. Arawata, at 11.15 a.m. ; late fee letters, at 11.30 a.m. ; guard's van, 12 noon train. For Northern Ports, per Penguin, at 1.40 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.30 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY. JANUARY 12. _ For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Snez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies (except Sydney and Brisbane), &c, per express train, to connect with s.s. Arawata, at Bluff, as follows : Ordinary letters at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers at 6 a.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11th; money orders at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, January 12th. Note.—The Brindisi rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. SYDNEY J. DICE, Chinf Postmaster.
