ROAD BOARD ELECTIONS.

AVON. The polling for three members in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 sub division of the Avon Raid Board district took place on Friday, with the following results :—No. 2 Subdivision —Cooper, sen., Thos., 65; Philpott, Albert Miles, 58; Moor, Wm., 7. No. 4 Sub-division—Munro,William, 109; Creeswoll, Robert Marshall, 98. No. 6 Sub-diviaion— Dunlop, William, 55; Bligh, John, 16. At half-past eight o’clock the returning officer, Mr John Grierson, made the official declaration at the Road Board office, declaring Messrs. T. Cooper, sen., William Munro, and Wm. Dunlop duly elected members of the Avon Road Board, Messrs. Cooper and Munro briefly returned thanks for their election, and, on the motion of Mr Cooper, seconded by Mr Bligh, a vote of thanks was passed to the returning officer, and duly acknowledged by that gentleman. HBATHOOTE, The polling for three members of the above Road Board took place on Friday at the Heathcote Road Board office, Ferry road. There was not much excitement during the day. Shortly after eight o’clock Mr G. L. Lee, the returning officer, made the following declaration of the poll:—Jones, Frederick, 713; O’Neill, J., 561; Bruce, Thos., 486; Hawker, Wm., 282; Morgan, J. A., 194. Twenty informal voting papers were put in. He therefore declared Messrs Jones, O’Neill and Bruce duly elected. Mr Jones returned thanks for the large number who had recorded their votes in hia favor, and for the proud position of being at the head of the poll. Mr O’Neill thanked the electors for again returning him. During the two years he had sat on the Board he had done his best, and would do so again. Mr Bruoe took hia re-election as a proof of his past services having given satisfaction. Mr J. A. Morgan tbanked those who voted for him. He had done no buttonholing for votes, and was very glad he was not returned. He would much rather go in for the General Assembly. [Cheers.] After a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, proposed by Mr Bruce, and seconded by Mr Jones, the proceedings terminated. SPREYDON. The Road Board election in this district took place on Friday. The polling took place between ten am. and seven p.m., with the following result:— A. Ashworth, 158; E. Amyee, 123; M. Baglesome, 108; David Nairn, 107; J. Miln, 102 ; Sir J. O. Wilson, 80. The first throe gentlemen were duly elected. COURTENAY. Considerable excitement was noticeable on Friday during the polling for the election of three members for this Board, a great many ratepayers attending each of the polling places. The returning officer made known at Kirwee at 6.15 p.m. who were the successful candidates. The numbers were as follows : Gough 236, Mathias 228, Anson 201, Brabazon 173, and McClelland 151
