CHRISTCHURCH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The ordinary monthly committee meeting of this society was held on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr E. C. J. Stevens, in the chair. Present —Messrs G. A. Reade, S. Manning, J. Guntrip, J. Gray, 0. Marsh, M. Murphy, D. Nairn, and F. Jones, hon. secretary pro tem. The principal business brought before tho meeting was tho case of an exhibitor at the Spring show, against whom a complaint was made was made of an infringement of the rules of the society. Correspondence bearing on the subject was read and discussed, and tho exhibitor referred to made a short statement. The further discussion and decision of the committee was deferred to the date of the general meeting of the society on Ilth inst. A scale drawing of tho proposed memorial stone to the late secretary, with an estimate of the cost, was presented for consideration and approved of. To supply an omission in tho report of the items sent for exhibition it should be mentioned that Mr D. Craw sent a stand of three blooms of very fine double hollyhocks, and Mr Jackman brought some good roses, among them being a superb bloom of Cheohunt hybrid.
