IJSir George Bowen is founding a colonia institute at Mauritius; the cost will be £IO,OOO, and its object a common platform for the advancing of scientific subjects. A lad was recently sent to tho workhouse in Cambridge, England, for picking a rose and a spray of geraniums. The mayor and the aldermen considered it an offenco to be punished by three months of hard labor.
