MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the neoessary alterationc) as under : TUESDAY, JANUARY 4, 1881. For Northern Ports, per Taiaroo, at 3.20 p.m. j late fee letters, at 3.30 p.m.; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. WEDNE3DAY, JANUARY 5. For Chatham Islands, per Island Lily, at 7.30 a.m. For Otogo and Australian Colonies, via Bluff, per Te Anau, at 420 p.m.; late fee letterß, at 4.35 p.m.; guard's van, 5.25 p.m. train. Residents in Sydenham are requested to got their letters addressed to the Borough. There is a serious delay in delivering correspondence meant for Sydenham if addressed to Christchurch. Three new post offices have been opened from Ist January, 1881. 1. Cracroft, at Sir Cracroft Wilson's etation, Rangitata. Mails will clo'eat Christchurch each Wednesday and Saturday at 730 a.m. 2. Newland, Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 a.m. 3. North Lobnrn, Ashley. Mails will close at Christchurch each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 6 a.m. HYDNEY J. DICE, Chief Postmaster
