MAIL NOTICES.

Mails clooo at the Chief Poet Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under s FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, &0., per Wanaka, as follows—Money orders and registered letters, at 5 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10 p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. Late fee letters may be posted in the guard’s van attached to the 8.30 p.m. train on Saturday, Ist January. MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 1881. For Northern Ports and Australian Colonies, per Wakatipu. On Saturday, Ist January (New Year’s Day), all branches of the Post Office will be closed. Residents in Sydenham are requested to get their letters addressed to the Borough. There is a serious delay in delivering correspondence meant for Sydenham if addressed to Christchurch. On Ist January, 1881, three new post offices will be opened. 1. Craeroft, at Sir Cracroft Wilson’s station, Rangitata. Mails will clo=eat Christchurch each Wednesday and Saturday at 7.30 a.m. 2. Nowland, Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 a.m. 3. North Loburn, Ashley. Mails will close at Christchurch each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 6 a.m. SYDNEY J.
