MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office tor the following places (subject to the necessary alteration*) as under : THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30. For Australian Colonies per express train, to connect with s.s. Ringarooma at the Bluff, at 7.30 pm. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-ofiioo van attached to the express train. For Ofcago, per Pengnin, at 12.5 p.m.; late fee letters at 12.33 p.m.; guard's van, 1.25 p.m. ttt-Ma For Northern Ports, per Arawata, at 1.40 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.30 p.m. train. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Earope and America, West Indies, Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c, per Wanaka, as follows —Money orders and registered letters, at 5 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10 p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist Jannary, 1881. Late fee letters may be posted in the guard's van attached to the 8.30 p.m. train on Saturday, Ist January. On Saturday, Ist January {Sew Year's Day), all branches of the Post Office will be closed. Residents in Sydenham are requested to get their letters addressed to the Borough. There is a serious delay in delivering correspondence meant for Sydenham if addreesed to Christchurch. On Ist January, 1881, three new post offices will be opened. 1. Cracroft, at Sir Cracroft Wilson's station, Rangitata. Mails will clo?eat Christchurch each Wednesday and Saturday at 7.30 a.m. 2. Newland, Asbburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 a.m. 3. North Loburn, Ashley.
