TO START A JIBBING HORSE.
The following novel metqod of etartinga jibbing h&rse is eugpeated fcy a correspondent of the " Buralieb" (SDringfield, Illinois, U.S.A.) •: Two persons are required for the trial. One should told the jreins while the other fastens a short strap or-iope—a halter strap, always at hand, answers the purpose well—just below the fetlock of a foreleg; then goiog forward, he shoald .pull on the strap until the hone lifts his Coot ; continuing to pull, the foot will be brought forward and set down a -little in advance of the other. The horse thus .thrown out of the natural position, will move forward to gain his equilibrium. A&other pull will cause another move for war 1. This may be repeated several times, or until the horse moves without having the foot pulled f >rn arc/. When the start is made it sometimes has the appearance of the horse being in a hurry to get away from the provoking man with the strap 5 therefore a steady hand should marage the reins. When he docs eteri .off the hold on the strip should be given
up. After having gone twenty-five or more yards the horce Bhould be gently brought to a stand and tho atrcp [removed. Tb«n try t> start him without the strap. If he does not Blatt oft et occo apply it again. He will soon tire ai b' ing thus annoyed, und will give no further trouble in this way.
