MAIL NOTICES.

Mails dose at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) os under: — TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28.

For Northern Porta, per Hawea, at 7.30 p.m. ; guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, DKCEMBFE 29. For Otago and Australian Colonies, via the Blnff, per Eingarooma, at 11.15 a,m.; late fee letters at 11.30 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 noon train. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., per Wanaka, as follows —Money orders and registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10 p.m.

A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. Late fee letters may bo posted in the guard’s van attached to the 8.30 p.m. train on Saturday, Ist January.

On Saturday, Ist January (New Year’s Day), all branches of the Post Office will be closed. Residents in Sydenham are requested to get their letters addressed to the Borough. There is a serious delay in delivering correspondence meant for Sydenham if addressed to Christchurch. On Ist January, 1881, three new post offices will be opened. 1. Craoroft, at Sir Cracroft Wilson’s station, Bangitata. Mails will closest Christchurch each Wednesday and Saturday at 7.30 a.m. 2. Newland, Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 a.m. 3. North Lobnrn, Ashley- Mails will close at Chrietchurcb each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 6 a.m. SYDNEY J.
