MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

OHBISTOHUBOH. Tuesday, December- 28. [Before G. L. Lee, and E. WestoUra, and J. Ollivier, Bsqs., J P.’s], Drunkenness.—Patrick Parrens, for being drunk and disorderly at the railway station, and resisting a railway servant in the execution of his duty on Christmas Eye, was fined 15s, and ordered to pay cab hire, 2s fid, and damage done to the porter’s watch, 3s fid. Wm. John Wilson was ordered to pay cab hire for conveying him to the look-up, and dismissed. Three men for first offences were fined ss. D. McDonald and Wm. Warner, out on bail, not answering when called, were ordered to shew cause why their bail should not be estreated. Soliciting- Alms. —Charles Mollwo, alias Baron Mollwo, alias Zambinski, was, on this charge, further remanded till the 31st instant. Larceny. —J. Donald, J. Lee, B, B, Hardy, and O. McKenzie, small boys averaging about twelve years old, were charged with stealing from the workshop of William Dean, tinsmith, Cashel street, a quantity of tinware, consisting of watering pots, billies, &a., to the value of 15s. The boys admitted the charge at first, but at the instance of John Lee, father of one of them, withdrew the admission and pleaded not guilty. Mr Deans having deposed to the loss of the goods and to the finding the boys on the premises, J. Lee, sen., put a series of questions to the witness. The constable who arrested the boys then proved their confession of the theft, and Sergeant Wilson the finding of the goods at their homes. Sergeant Morice said that Hardy had been previously convicted on four occasions for similar offences, and the hoy Lee bore a vary bad character. The others were unknown to the police. Hardy, Donald and Lee were ordered to be locked up till 5 p.m., then to receive twelve lashes each, the two last to be then discharged. Hardy to be imprisoned afterwards for one month, and to receive a second whipping of twelve lashes. The other boy to witness the first whipping. A oharge against W. Boe for stealing a bird cage was dismissed for want of evidence.
