Neill, Tapman, Messrs Cole, Ingram, Little. Union Steamship Company, agents. A large ship passed Otago Heads on Thursday, bound in this direction. The British Sceptre, from Calcutta, was passed off Oamaru by the Taiaroa last night. ; She is bound to this port. The New Zealand Shipping Company anseances that the steamship Northumberland •will leave Wellington for London in February. The accommodation which this vessel possesses, nod the genial character of her commander, Captain E. S. Babot, late of th» Hydaspes, should secure for her a full complement of pas--BeMeMraeMeMra Shaw, Saville and Co.’s b wque Latterworth, which was cleared for London by Messrs Dalgety and Co. on Wednesday, will taka her departure to-day, with a fall cargo of wool and ■other produce. She also takes a number of passengers. The vessel is in admirable trim, and should give a good account of herself on the homeward run. The next vessel to be despatched by the same firm is the City of Tanjore, now loading* _ , ... , The Union Company’s s.s. Taiaroa will be hers to-day. with the Lyttelton portion of the Ned White's cargo of American goods transhipped from that vessel at Dunedin. The Taiaroa is to leave on Monday night for Timaiu and Dunedin. Monday morning the Taiaroa makes an excursion trip to Pigeon Bay.
