Volcanoes are always found in the neighborhood of water ; they stud the of the Pacific Ocean in a great chain running from New Zealand by the Friendly Islands, New Guinea, the Sunda, and Phillippine Isles, to Japan; thence by the Kurile Isles to Kamsohatka, and across through (he Aleustian Islands to North America ; then south along the western border of that Continent to the extremity of the Andes. The book will therefore be at least a novelty in point of construction.
