BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
The Board of Conservators for the district of South Waimakariri held their final meeting in the office at Messrs Harman and Stevens this morning, there being present Mr Harman (chairman), Mr O'Oallaghanand Mr The Chairman ' reported that the subsidy had been paid by the Government, being in amount £654 5s 6d, at the rate of 7s 6d m the £ on the general rates collected for the period ending 31st March, 1880. Mr Harman also informed the Board that there was very little business to transact, the chief matter being to wind up the affaire of the Board, as this would be the last meeting. Mr Tosswill asked i£ any report was to hand in reference to the river-bed. The foreman of works reported that the state of the works generally was satisfactory. In reply to Mr Harman, Mr Jeal stated that the condition of the river was about the same as usual at this time of the year. The Board then instructed Mr Jeal to await commands from the inooming Board, as (the present Board went out of office to-day, and passed a resolution expressive of the zeal and care with which the overseer had discharged his duties during the period he had jheld his office. . The Board decided to pay six months (linking fund on short dated debentures. A number of acoounts were passed for payment. The Board then rose.
