MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office tot the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : SATUBDAT, DECEMBER 18. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at V. 30 a.m.; guard's van, 8.5 a.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 7.30 p.m. Guard'n van mast not be used for Hawoa mails. TUESDAY, DECEMBEB 21. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Tararna, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m., guard's vaD, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, DECEMBEB 31. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco. &c, as under. Money orders and registered letters at 5 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. Late fee letters may be posted in the gnard's van attached to the 8.30 p.m. train on Saturday, Ist January. On Saturday, Ist January (JJew Year's Day), all branches of the Post Oifice will be closed. Notb.—On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank's office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The office will open again at half-past six o'clock to receive Savings Bank deposits only, and will remain open till half-past eight o'clock. The Sydenham Pod; Office will open on December 17 th.
