AUCKLAND, December 15. Horace’s Difficulties. A second attempt to obtain a meeting of the creditors of Mr Horace Lingard proved abortive. His liabilities are as follows Mr Williamson, Melbourne, fines recovered for the performance of “ H.M.S. Pinafore,” £586; Searell, musician, for services, £300; Craig, actor, £2BO ; Haggerty, actor, £35. The Late Fatal Accident. The boy named Leith, was a son of Mr Leith, second lighthouse keeper, and fell over a cliff on the island, 220 ft high, while gathering Christmas flowers on Monday afternoon, The father of the boy and the head lighthouse keeper tried to reach the spot by sea, but owing to the rough sea the boat was stove. They signalled to a passing vessel bound for Auckland, and yesterday the Customs launch went to Tiri Tiri, but it was blowing a gale, and she failed to effect a search. She returned to Auckland to-day, and tows down the polio i boat. It is believed that the boy fell on a ledge 200 ft. down, and the body bounded off into the sea below. The lighthouse keeper was lowered down the face of the cliff, but failed to see the body on the ledge. The lad’s mother clings to the belief that he fell in a chasm in the ledge not explored, and will be found alive. Union Sash and Door Company. At an extraordinary meeting of the Union Sash and Door Company, a resolution was passed authorising the directors to borrow £40,000 on debentures at such rates and for such terms as they might deem expedient, Hew Jewish Rabbi. The new Jewish rabbi for Auckland, the Eev. Goldskin, with his family, were passengers by the Tararua. WELLINGTON, December 15. The Parihaka BlockTelegrams have been received to the effect that several tiig. stations on the Parihaka block have been destroyed, but it is supposed that the stations were accidentally destroyed by some Natives who are out pig-oatohing for the next Parihaka meeting. Sale of Waimate PlainsThe following telegram has been received from the Commissioner of Crown Lands at Hawera in reference to the further sale of land on the Waimate Plains :—“ Fourteen of the deferred payment contested sections sold at auction at about upset, there being little competition between the applicants. The other eleven sections were briskly competed for, at prices ranging from £7 10s to £l4 5s per acre. Four sections were taken up on the 13 th not contested.” MayoralThe installation of Mayor took place today. TIMAEU, December 15. Returning to the ChargeMr Wakefield met his constituents at Temuka again to-night. The room was crowded, and he was listened to attentively throughout. A great number of questions were asked and answered to the satisfaction of the audience. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was passed. The only man in in the room who proposed a resolution that the address was unsatisfactory, failed to find a seconder. OAMABU, December 15. Hunted by DeputationsThe Minister for Public Works left Oamaru to-day, without giving several deputations an opportunity of interviewing him. This has created a good deal of hostile criticism. DUNEDIN, December 15. Harbor BoardThe Harbor Board to-day unanimously agreed to increase Mr Simpson’s salary from £3OO to £BOO per annum, on the understanding that his whole time be given to the services of the Board.
