MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alteration,) as under:— WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, Point de dalle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, Ac., per express train, to connect with s.s. TeAnau, at Bluff, as follows: Ordinary letters at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers at 6 a.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14th ; money orders at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14. _ Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, 15th December. For Kaikoura, per Tui, at 3.20 p m. ; late fee leftors, 3.30 p.m. Guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, on or about Saturday, 18th December. THUESDAY, DECEMBER 16. For Akaroa, per Wanaka, at 7.30 a.m. Guard’s van must not be used for this mail. For Northern ports, per Ringarooma, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, &c., as under. Money orders and registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; ordinary letters at 10 p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. late fee letters may be posted in the guard’s van attached to the 8.30 p.m. train on Saturday, Ist January. On Saturday, Ist January (New Year’s Day), all branches of the Post Office will be closed. Note. —On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank’s office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The office will open again at half-past six o’clock to receive Savings Bank deposits only, and will remain open till half-past eight o’clock. The Sydenham Post Office will open on December l?th.
