Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following phoes (subject to the necessary alterations) as order:— TUESDAY, DECEMBER 14. For th) United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for speoidly addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hcpe, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, AuatraHai Colonies, &0., per express train, to connect w.th s.s. Te Anau, at Bluff, as follows; — Ordinary letters at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers ai 6 a.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. on Tuesdiy, December 14th ; money orders at 4 p.m. or Tuesday, December 14. late fee letters may be posted in the travelling PostOffica von attached to the express train on Wediesday, 15th December. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, on or about Saturday, 18th December. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31. For tie United Kingdom, via San Francisco. Ac., as under. Money orders and registered letters, it 5 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 9 p.m.; oidinary letters at 10 p.m. A supplementary mail will be closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. Late fee letters may be posted in the guard’s van attached to the 8.30 p.n. train on Saturday, Ist January. On Saturday, Ist January (New Year’s Day), all branches of the Post Office will bo closed. Note, —On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank’s office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
