; ASSOCIATION v. PAST AND PRESENT | COLLEGE. | This match was ooatinusd on Saturday last i ; —when the game stood Association Ist ; innings, 185 ; College, 63, with eight wickets 1 down—E. J. Ootterill and Chapman being not out for 33 and 4 respectively. The score was increased to 79 before a good catch by Fowke got rid of Chapman. Bowen stayed until the total reached within 7 of saving the follow on, when he was bowled by O. Frith. E, J. Ootterill carried his bat for a carefully msde 54, the last hit of which was to leg for 5. With 86 runs to the bad, the Past and Present had to follow on, and, as will be seen by the score below, failed to save the innings defeat. A. Ollivier made 30 out of 34 runs, put together during his stay at the wickets—a 5, two 4’s, a 3 and two 2’s being his principal hits. Hugh Mathias made 15 before he was run out, a good hit to leg for 5 and two 3’s being amongst bis contributions. G. Helmoro and A. Chapman each scored 11. the latter being not out. Eowko made a fine catch at the wickets when he dismissed E. J, Ootterill. The second innings closed for 82, and the Association thus won by an innings and 4 runs. Shirley went first to the wickets, and | were ail disposed of for 43 runs, J. Taylor 14 (not out) being the only one to make any 1 stand against the bowling of E. Seager, 35, batted very steadily < for the Sunnyside team, while A. McCormick ’ and B. Beattie, with 21 each to their credit, > batted well for Addington. The bowling of M. McCormick and B. Jackson for Adding- i ton, and of E. Kinsman for Sunnyside, was : very good. The scores were—Sunnyside 62, 1 Addington 78. i A match was played between the Prebbleton and Ashburton teams last Saturday, on 1 the ground of the latter. The Ashbnrton men went in first, and scored 41 before they ' were all out. The Prebbleton then went to 1 the wickets, and also scored 41. In the < second innings Ashburton made 107, of which 1 Andrews contributed 40 and Denshire 18. In i the Prebbleton second innings six wiokets i were down for 28 when the express left. The ’ fielding was very good all round, and the < batting of Andrews, Denshire, Taylor, and 1 Coltman, was most noticeable. The bowling of E. Prebble was excellent. <
