His Excellency, Sir Arthur Gordon, will j make a tour of the whole colony in the early part of next year, leaving Wellington towards the ' end of January. The various districts of the North Island will be first visited, and afterwards the different parts of the South Island, including the West Coast Sounds. The probablo route will be from Wellington to Lyttelton, thence overlaid to Westland; by steamer to tho Sounds and Bluff, overland to Dunedin, Christchurch and Lyttelton, thence by steamer to Wellington. Lady Gordon is expected to arrive in New Zealand next March, coming by one of the Orient steamers to Melbourne and thence by the Union Company's boat to the Bluff, where she will probably be met by his Excellency. Parliamentary Librarian. The post of Parliamentary Librarian* vacated by the death of Mr E. McColl, is practically in the gift of the Library Committee of the General Asiiembly, and not of the Government, the function of the latter consisting simply in advising his Excellency the Governor to confirm the appointment recommended by the committee. It is thought likely that the new appointed will not be permanently made before next session. Already there are crowd? of applicants.
