Tha greatest consternation exists, and the gravest fears are entertained that further shocks of earthquake may have a worsa effect than any yet experienced. LONDON, December 9. Another Agrarian MurderNews has been received of another serious and murderous outrage in Ireland on a bailiff while he was executing a decree for the eviction of a tenant from a farm at Cookstown, in county Tyrone. The bailiff was set upon by the tenant and his sympathisers, and murdered by them before he could escape. CALCUTTA, December 8. The Marquis of Eipon. The Viceroy, the Marquis of Ripon, who had recovered from the fever which recently attacked him at Allahabad, in the north-west provinces, is now detained at that town by a serious sunstroke which he has received. Frequent telegrams have come to hand from Allahabad regarding the state of the Marquis of Ripon. The latest bulletin reports that his Excellency is rapidly recovering from the effects of the sunstroke, and is now out of danger. CAPETOWN, December 8. The Basnto War. News has come to hand from the seat of hostilities in Basutoland and tha adjoining districts, that after several severe engagements between the colonial forces and the tribes of Pendo, the latter have, after a succession of defeats, been utterly routed.
