Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) on under:—

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8. For Otago and Australian Colonies, except New South Wales and Queensland, per express (to connect with b.b. Arawata at Bluff), at 7 a.m. ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train.

For Kaikonra, per Tui, at 320 p.m.; late fee letters, at 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9. For Akaroa and Otago, per Penguin, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters at 11.30 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 noon train. For Fiji, per Rotorua (to connect with s.s. Southern Cross at Auckland), at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m. For Northern Ports, per Rotorua, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m. ; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. MONDAY, DECEMBER 13.

For United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, per s.s. Durham (for specially addressed correspondence only), as follows: — Ordinary letters, at 11 a.m.; books and newspapers, at 11 a.m.; money orders, at 10 a.m.; registered letters, at 10 a.m.; late fee letters, at 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 noon train. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only). Continent of Europe, Point do Gallo, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, Ac., per express train, to connect with s.s. Te Anau, at Bluff, as follows: — Ordinary letters at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers at 6 a.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14th; money orders at 4 p.m. ou Tuesday, December 14. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, 15th December.

The next mail for the ;United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will close at the Chief Post Office, on Saturday, Ist January, 1881. Note.— On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank’s office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
