MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., cor Penguin, as follows Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers at 6 p.m.; money orders at 3 p.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This moil will be due in London, January 18th, 1881. MONDAY, DECEMBER 6. Fer Otago, per Wakatipu, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters, at 11.30 a.m.; guard’s van, 12 noon train. For Northern Ports, per Albion, at 1.50 p.m ; late fee letters at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7. For Otago and Australian Colonies, except New South Wales and Queensland, per Arawata, at 1.50 p.m ; ’ate fee letters, at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8. For Otago and Australian Colonies, except New South Wales and Queensland, per express (to connect with s.a. Arawata at Bluff), at 7 a.m. ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), will close at the Chief Post Office, on Wednesday, December 15th, at 7 p.m. Noth.—On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank’s office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
