THE WAR AT THE CAPE.

[BBireEß'fl TEILESBAMS.] [Per s.s. Albion, at the Bluff J CAPETOWN, November 28. The rebellion iu Basutoland still continues. Our forces have not secured a decisive victory as yet, although several engagements have been fought. Three thousand six hundred and eighty burghers have been called out, and will proceed to the front this week. Two hundred volunteers, Engineers, and sixty of the Cape Artillery start for the seat of war, taking with them four field guns. It is feared that the Galekas also will join the Basutos : in fact, there is danger of a general Native rising. A company of volunteers, composed almost entirely of Australian gold seekers, has been raised for active service. On the 20th ult. Maseru was attaoked by the rebels, who for the second time were repulsed with considerable loss after a sharp fight. Our loss was one officer and four men killed and six wounded. The rebel loss was forty killed. The first engagement with the rebel Cambookies took place near Derdrucht on the 4th Inst., and resulted iu the defeat of the rebels without loss on our side. Five were killed on theirs. At Derdrucht every man in the place has been enrolled for its defence. Heavy gales have swept along the coast, and three vessels have been totally wrecked, one at Port Elizabeth, one at East London, and a third at Mubbol Bay. From the diamond fields and Transvaal over 400 volunteers are en route to the seat of war, and in a few days fully 5000 colonists will be in the field.
