MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3. For Kaikonra and Northern Porta, per Jane Douglas, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, at 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Porta of New Zealand, &0., per Taiaroa, as follows Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers at 6 p.m.; money orders at 3 p.m.; registered letters at 5 p.m. guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London, January 18th, 1881. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Arawata. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per express (to connect with s.s. Arawata at Bluff), at 7 a.m. ; late fee letters may be posted in the travelling post-office van attached to the express train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, Ac., via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only), will close at the Chief Post Office, on Wednesday, December 15th, at 7 p.m. Note. —On and after Saturday, 4th December, the Money Order and Savings Bank’s office will close each Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
