ROAD BOARDS.

KOWAI. A special meeting of the Kowai Boad Board was held at the Boad Board Office, Balcaira, on Monday, the 22nd November. A letter was read from the Ashley Boad Board re payment of half share of forming and metalling -Boundary road. The chairman was requested to arrange for a meeting with the Ashley Board at 10 a.m. on Thursday the 30th inst., at Ashley Bank. A letter was read from Mr L 0. Williams relative to report of last Board meeting as it appeared in the ".Lyttelton Times." The Board regretted that the editor had cut out that portion of the report re valuation roll and other works. The Board then adjourned. OUST. A special meeting of the above Board was held on November 22nd. Present —Mr J. D. Dickinson (chairman), as well as Messrs Buddonklaa, Biddle, Anderson, and Grant. Correspondence waa read from the West Eyreton Boad Board relative to expense of shingling over a bridge on the Boundary road at Baiter's,, and asking for copy of specifications before such work being let. The clerk was directed to furnish the same. From the Government Engineer, DanediD, relative to a crossing required to be made over the New Swamp ro»d. It was decided that steps should be taken to get the new road gazstted. A letter relative to Can's case was read, and the Board finally decided to refer the case to the College and Hospital Boards for their perusal and favorable consideration, this being a hard case. The clerk was directed to forward the documents to the proper quarters. Messrs Garland and Donaldson called upon the. Board and produced tenders for olearing and widening the Oust main drain for about forty-one chains. The lowest tender was aooepted, and it was decided that the Board pay one-half cost, the parties concerned to pay the other half and to always keep the drain is. question clean thereafter. Various tenders were opened for inspection and one in each case accepted. Mr Wm. Thompson waited on the Board respecting a drain which crosses the Hill road through a part of his land, asking the Board to have the drain cleared out. The Board direoted Mr Thompson to do the work at the Board's expense. Acoounts amounting to £7O 16s od were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
