Sir Charles Lyell says, “ On my visit to America I was amazed at the clean appearance of the buildings in the great Atlantic cities, arising entirely from the nse of the smokeless anthracite coal, leaving no doubt that, with American appliances for burning it, this coal is the moat effective coal known.” A trial of the above by brewers and other large consumers is respectfully solicited.
