FIRE BRIGADE ANNUAL PROCESSION.
A meeting of the fire brigade was hold last night in the Lichfield street station, to consider matters connected with the annual torchlight procession and fireworks display. In consequence of the 16th being a moonlight night it was decided that the procession and display take place on the evening of December 27th. It was considered that if satisfactory arrangements could bo made it would be preferable to have the fireworks display in the A. and P. Association grounds, to be succeeded by the procession. In consequence of the large outlay for fireworks and the loss sustained last year it was decided to make a charge of fid at the gates, and that anyone who had already contributed towards the expense would be supplied with tickets gratis any evening at the Lichfield street station. It was also decided to engage two bands for the occasion, and the secretary was instructed to issue invitations to the Christchurch fire police and the Lyttelton, Railway, Kaiapoi, and Rangiora fire brigades. It should be stated that the fireworks are imported direct from Messrs Brook and Co. of London, pyrotechnists to the Crystal Palace.
