WOODEND WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL.
The trrenty • first anniversary of the above school WMoeleb rated on Tuesday last by a tea meeting, held in the school adjoining the chapel, the tables being Mndly provided by the Mesdames Wilson, Garlick, Norton, Salkeld, arid Burgess. >' justice having been done to the good things provided by the ladies, an adjournment wag made- to the chapel, whore a very pleasant meeting was held, presided over by Mr Thos. Wilson, superintendent of the Sunday school. Mr Salkeld, secretary, read the annual report and balance-sheet, in which he stated that had been during the year a considerable inoreaso of scholars, but what was greatly seeded was a larger teaching staff. The bblanoe-sheet showed a debit balance of about £3. Tho secretary, in conclusion, read a brief history of Hubert Raikes, the founder of Sundsy schools. Addresses were also delivered by the Bevs. Baumber, Armitage,
Q-arlick, and Mr J. Thompson. During the evening the choir, under the able direction of Mr 0. S. Howard, sang some very nice pieces from the " Sacred Songster," Mr E. Turner presiding at the harmonium. The usual votes of thanks having been accorded, the benediction was pronounced by tho Rev. W. Q-arlick, and the meeting closed. The proceeds of the tea amounted to nearly £l3.
