LATE CABLE NEWS.

[By Telegraph.] [Per s.s. Ringaroomc, »t Russell.J LONDON, November 8. Owing to a rumor of an intended invasion by persons sympathising with the victims of the League, the people in the greater part of of the County of Mayo are arming. The monastic expulsions are causing increased excitement in France. From _Chatreuso the priests have emigrated to Switzerland. Troops are starving out the inmates of the monastery at Taraseon. _ The papers review favorably the work ]nst issued by Sir Charles Gavin Duffy, entitled "A Thirty Years’ History of Young Ireland.” The town of Ornquank, lately by the Khurds, is again in a critical position. The Khurd chief crucified thirty of his followers for excesses perpetrated by them upon Persian peasants. _ . Since I# , iycock , » victories, and as tno time draws near for the championship match, a most intense interest is manifested in almost every ci.'de over the approaching match between Trickett and Hanlan. The betting, notwithstanding the easy victories of Laycock, is still in Hanlan’s favor, and 5 to 4 is offered on the Canadian.

November 9. The Right Hon. H. E. Forster, Chief Secretary of Ireland, informed the members of the Press in Dublin to-day that the meeting together of a larger number of persons than was actually necessary to protect the crops of the victims of the Irish Land League would be likely to produce a collision, and therefore such meeting would be an illegal gathering. He stated, however, that the Government would protect persons who were likely to become victims of the Leaguers. The aspect of affairs in Ireland is becoming most alarming. Sectarian prejudices have been aroused, the excitement and bitterness of feeling displayed by the tenant classes generally being intensified by religious bigotry and party considerations. The Orange party are using their influence in favor of the landlords and against the violent measures advocated by the leaders of the land league. An Orange expedition has been organised to proceed to the parish of Billinrobe, County Mayo, where serious disturbances are threatened. Several landlords are reported to bo in imminent danger of attack from agrarian malcontents, and the Government have been appealed to for protection, but the authorities will only afford special protection to gatherers of crops, and troops have been despatched to most of the disturbed districts, with that object in view.
