GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

The weather continues all that could ba desired by farmers, ihe appearance of the growing crops is excellent, and quite equal to that of any former year. In business transactions nothing of any moment has transpired during the week. Wheat meets a steady demand at 4s 2d for good milling samples, but the quantity offering ii very limited. Flour remains without alteration at j£ll for town, and £lO 10s for country brands. The increase in the Victorian duty on oats to 9d-3-sths per bushel (practically 9Jd per bushel) has caused a panse in operations, as in the present state of the markets the producer ha 3 practically to pay ibe duty. Were stocks of oats small, and our friends on the other Bide anxious purchasers, there is no doubt but they would soon cry ont against so heavy an impost, but as things are they do not fed it. It is but justice to the Victorian farmers to say that at a recent meeting of " their Union " they pasted a resolution condemnatory of the increase. Prices are nominally the same as last week. Barley continues in good demand at 3s to 33 6d for best samples, and Is 6d to 2s 6d for inferior to medium. The recent rains must have improved the butteraroducing power of many dairies, bnt holders arj not willing to make sales nnder 6d. Cheese has been neglected, and sales made with difficulty at irregular rates. A fair business has been carried through in hams and bacon at Bid.
