A meeting of the above society was held yesterday afternoon. Present —Sir J. C. Wilson (in the chair), Messrs Marshman, Oarriok, Stoddart, Hon. J. T. Peacock, and Farr (hon. sec.) In response to an offer from Mr E. Wilkin to distribute trout in the Waiau and Upper Hurncni rivers, it was resolved to give 1000 fish for that purpose. The letter stated that the fish had been placed in the Mikonui, Totara Teremakau, Arahura, Kakatahi rivers, the Waimea creek and the Kanieri Lake. The letter further stated that the cans were being kept for the purpose of forwarding some grayling in a few weeks’ time. A letter was read from the Auckland and Nelson societies, concurring with the suggestion of licenses granted in each province being recognised throughout the colony. In response to a request from the Waimate County Council, 5000 trout were given at £1 per hundred. Two hundred trout were granted to Mr Hayden, at Halswell. On the application of Mr Farr for Mr Boys, one thousand trout were voted for distribution in the rivers of the Northern district, the Mayor of Bangiora and Mr Boys to undertake the distribution.
