CRICKET.
A match between the Press Olnb and Baker* was played on the Press ground on Wednesday, and resulted in a win for the Press on the first innings, time not allowing of the completion of the match. The Press team wont in first, and pnt together 54, of which Ashbolt made 12 and Edmonds 10. Ihe Bakers only reached 20 in their first effort, Washer contributing 11, the bowling of _VVH. and W. G. Atsok being very successful. The second innings of the Press closed for 66, Ashbolt again making double figures with 18, and W. H. Atack 10. The underhand bowling of Whitfield proved very destructive to the Press wickets. Only an hour remained for the Bakers to pull up 90, and by rapid •coring 67 was reached for the loss of eight wickets when time was called. Lloyd 13 and Bennett (not out) 13 were the chief scorers. The match was thns won by the Press on the first innings by 34 runs. A match was played between the Greendale and Hororata Clubs on Saturday, the 23rd inst. The scores of the Hororata team were 37 and 17, of which Mr G. B. Peacock contributed 26 in the first innings. Greendale succeeded in scoring 110 in one innings, the principal scores being—J. Bamsden 58, T. Sawle 19, G. Wilson 8, and B. Wilson 6. Greendale thus won the match by one innings and 56 runs. , The opening match of the Muff Cricket Clnb for this season will be played to-morrow. Bides to be chosen on the ground. Wickets will be pitched at eleven o'clock sharp. _ The following will play for the Lincoln Olnb in their match against Prebhleton to-day J, Blair (captain), J. Taylor, A. P. O’Callaghan, G. Lipscomb, T. Ooltman, G, Taylor, P. Townehend. E. Vownshond, W. Miller, F, Moorshead, G. Barter. Play to commence at 10 a.m. sharp on the Prebhleton ground. On Saturday, the following will play for the Addington Cricket Olnb, on their ground, against an eleven of the Press Club; —Messrs W. Atkinson, B. Beattie, K. Brown, G. Dixon, j G. Hepworth, W. Hepworth, T. Hooper, B. Hardy, J. McLean, J. Parker, F. Simpson ; : emergencies, M. Bo we, A. Also an eleven will play against the Bohemians on j the ground of the latter. A conveyance will leave the Addington railway gates at 1.15 p.m. 1 The team will consist of Messrs O. Bayman, J. 1 Flavell, J, Hopper, B- Jackson, W- Lodge, S. * MoMurray, A. MoGormack, J. Nevin, O. * Strange, 0. Taylor, G. Wells, and A. Milford, emergency.
