FRUIT GROWING.
To the Editor of the “ Olobe.” Sib,— At the end of a paragraph in your Tuesday’s issue on the subject of Adelaide exporting apples to England, you say, “ Why should not Canterbury do the same ? ” Let me ask another question, “ Why should not Canterbury grow enough apples for her own consumption ?” At present, as you must be Tory well aware, the bulk of the fruit eaten in this province is imported. Why ? Simply because the people of the province are too careless to grow for themselves or for others. The question asked by me is a wide one, and 1 hope you will follow the matter up. la the present depressed times people should remember that God help those that help themselves, and they should act up to that precept. Tours, &c., FRUIT CONSUMER. October 26th.
