CANTERBURY HUNT CLUB.

A general meeting of the abore Club was held at Messrs R. Wilkin and Oo.’s offices, on Wednesday afternoon. Present —Messrs A. Scott (chairman), Eimbellj Baker, Haydon, Selby, H. P. Murray-Ayns-ley, Lockhart, Orange” J. Wilkin, Digby, W. Browne, J. Brabazon, and G. O’Connell (secretary). The chairman stated the steps that the committee had taken since the last general meeting, and then read the rules prepared by them, which were passed seriatim. A resolution was carried empowering the committee to elect members of the club during the current year, up to April Ist, when all subscriptions should be due. Some discussion ensued as to the color of the uniform. It was moved by Mr Haydon, and seconded by Mr James Wilkin, that the club uniform should be scarlet. Mr Kimbell spoke against scarlet as being quite an unorthodox color for harriers. Mr Lookhart proposed as an amendment—“ That the color should be black, with the Club button, white breeches, and tops.” Mr Selby seconded the amendment, which was carried. It was decided that the hounds should never be allowed to run a drag. The chairman said in the present scarcity of hounds he had, in conjunction with Meiers Wilkin and Kimbell, sent home to Mr Starkey for a few additional dogs. A vote of thanks for his action was accorded to Mr Scott. The chairman suggested the advisability of holding a Hunt Club Steeplechase meeting every year. The idea seemed to meet with much approval from the committee, and on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Kimbell, it was carried unanimously.
