There will be a special performance of the Exhibition [Cantata during the coming race week. A grand demonstration of Trade and Friendly Societies will also take place, at an early date, at the Exhibition. The Strauss band performed at the Exhibition yesterday, and attracted a large audience. The attendance during the day was 10,000.

A most destructive fire broke out at Wagga Wagga at midnight on Friday, and completely destroyed the Masonic Hall and several adjoining buildings. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO, which is fully insured. The fire raged for five hours.

BRISBANE, October 18.

A fire broke out here at 11 p.m. on Saturday, in the premises of Mr Bolam, draper, in Queen street. The flames spread to the adjoining establishment, an ironmongers, and the fire was only extinguished with great difficulty. The insurances include £BSO in the Royal, Imperial, and Colonial Companies, of New Zealand, besides £5250 in other offices.
