MAIL NOTICES.
Malls close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19. For Otago and Australian Colonies, except Sydney and Brisbane, per Arawata, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. Eor Northern ports, Sydney, and Brisbane, per Wakatipu, at 3.20 p.m. ; late fee letters at 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY. OCTOBER 20. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point de Gallo, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Porta, Australian Colonies, &0., per express train, to connect with s.s. Arawata, at Bluff, as follows: Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; hooka and newspapers, at 6 a.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th, money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th. Late fee letters may he posted in the travelling Post-Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, October 20th. This mail will be due in London on December 9th. Note. —The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. THURSDAY. OCTOBER 21. For Chatham Islands, per Rotomahana, to connect with Omaha at Auckland.
The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via San Francisco, will close on November 6th. This mail will be due in London on December 22nd. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
