HOSPITAL ENQUIRY.

TO THE EDITOB OF THE PBESS. Sib, — I observe the house surgeon objects to the statement that your reporter has made of what I said in moving my resolution at the Drainage Board meeting on Monday, What I did say was, that it was reported that Mr Davies might be going homo by the Crusader. lam glad to know that he is not going. I simply repeated the report as a reason—if true—why the enquiry should not be further delayed. I had no desire to impute motives to him or any member of the Hospital Board, or the medical staff. As far as I can judge no member of the Local Board of Health has any personal feeling in the matter. We simply wish the provisions of the Public Health Act to be carried out by the hospital staff in the same manner they are by the medical officers and householders in cases of infectious diseases not connected with the Hospital. This should be all the interest the Boards or the public have in the matter. There are an abundance of other reasons why the enquiry should be held at once, and I have no doubt when the enquiry takes place Dr. Nedwill will be quite able to justify the action he has requested the Board to take. It is not a question in which evidence can be given or required from any member of the two Boards. It is simply one to be settled by professional experts, and witnesses who have seen and known something of the case or oases to be enquired into. Yours, &c., Fbbdk. Hobbs, Member of Drainage Board and Local Board of Health.
