MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under:— TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 7 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Rotorna, at 1.50 p.m. late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, at 240 p.m. train. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14. For Akaroa and Otago, per Hawea, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.30 a.m. ; guard's van, 12 noon train. For Fiji, to connect with the s.s. Southern Cross at Auckland, per To Anan. WEDNESDAY, OCTuBER 20. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point do Gallo, India the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c., per express train, to connect with's.s. Arawata, at Bluff, as follows: Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; hooka and newspapers, at 6 a.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th, money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post-Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, October 20th. This mail will bo due in London on December 19tb. Note.— The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-onnoe.
