BOWLING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Club whs held yesterday afternoon at the office of Mr Charles Clark, Hereford street, at three o’clock. Mr Peter Cunningham was elected to the chair. Mr Cuff, treasurer, read the annual report, which was as follows :—The po-ition of the club for the season about to commence is financially about the sain • as when we commenced last year, as far ns liabilities are concerned ; but members must bear in mind that there has been no special call made daring the past year as in the previous o/.e The number of our members was also less in 1879 80, being forty-nine, as against fif;y five in 187879, many of our old members Imv ng left or resigned, but eleven new members joined the club during last season, ar d their entrance fees were a considerable help to the club in compensating for the r> duCed numbers. The whole of the subscriptions for the past year, with one exception have been paid, and together with the er.tr.mco fees amount to £ll7 6s, as against £lll 2s for tho previous year. A larger amount has this year been spent on the ground than in the past season. The refreshment account shows a loss of about £5, when it ought really to bo made lo show a surplus. Our liabilities brought forward to this year are less than wore carried forward from tho past season, and consist principally of interest due on the ground, &0., to the end of the current month, against which we have a balance in the Bank of £lO 15s 6,1 to our credit. The statement of receipts and expenditure will be laid before you, and will, we trust, bo found satisfactory. Too much praise cannot bo given to Mr Neil Black, our hon. secretary, for the amount of work and time he has devoted during the past season to the affairs of the club. The committeo suggest to tho club that, in consideration of tho valuable services rendered by the late Bsoretary, Mr Bird, he ho elected a life member of the club. —(Signed), A. Cuff, treasurer. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance in tho Bank of £lO 15s 6d, against which there were liabilities to the amount of £SO 19s lOd, leaving a debit balance of £4O 4s 4J. The Chairman regretted that there was not a better attendance of membe rs, in the face of the annual statement just read. Oa the motion of Mr Garrick, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr Neil Black was re elected secretary and Mr Cuff treasurer, a voto of thanks being passed to the former for his services during the past term, to which Mr Cuff, the reappointed treasurer, bore testimory in generous terms. The remainder of the business was by general consent postponed till Saturday, 23rd iust., at two o’clock, on the ground.
