MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under:— THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7, For Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, at 2.40 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Arawata, at 320 p.m.; late fee letters, at 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., per Hawea, as follows: —Ordinary letters, at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 p.m,; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on November 23rd. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13, For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Eotorna, at 1.50 p.m. late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, at 240 p.m. train. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14. For Fiji, to connect with the s.s. Southern Cross at Auckland, per Te Anan. The next mail for the United Kingdom, &c., via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) will close on October 20th. This mail will he duo in London on December 9th. SYDNEY J. DICK.
