Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER e. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Express (to connect with s.s. Ringerooma at Bluff), at 7 a.m. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post-office van attached to the express train. For Kaikoura, per Jane Douglas, at 5.30 p.m.; late fee letters, 5.45 p.m. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7. For Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka, at 11.15 a.m. ; late fee letters, at 11.30 a.m.; guard’s van, at 12 noon train. For Northern ports, per Arawata, at 320 p.m.; late foe letters, at 3.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 4.5 p.m. train. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., per Hawoa, as follows: —Ordinary letters, at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 p.m,; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard’s van, 8.30 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on November 23rd. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14. For Fiji, to connect with the s.s. Southern Cross at Auckland, per Te Anau. The next mail for the United Kingdom, &0., via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) will does on October 20th. This mail will be due in London on December 9th. SYDNEY J.
