Hud to wait for a cargo, a small vessel, the Smiling Morn, being at the time on the berth for this port. New season sugar was scarce, but after some trouble Messrs Ireland and Fraser, the agents for the Jasper, purchased a cargo and loaded the vessel at once, not an hour being lost by them in giving her dispatch. Sailed for Lyttelton on August 25th, passed St. Paul’s Island on September 7th, and Cape Leuwin on the 15th. Two days la-er shipped a tremendous sea, which smashed the long boat to pieces.
