Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2. Northern Porta, pnr "Wanaka, at 7.30 p.m. Guard's van must not be used for this mail. MONDAY, OCTOBER 4. For Northern ports, per Go-Ahead. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Ringarooma. The mail for tho United Kingdom, &c, via San Francisco, will close on October the 9th next. This mail will be due in London on November 23rd. The_ next mail for the United Kingdom, &c, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) will close on October 20th. This mail will be due in London on December 9th. SYDNEY J.
