MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under :—■ FRIDAY. OCTOBEB 1. Kaikoura, per Tui, at 420 p m.; late fee letters at 4.35 p.m.; guard's van, 5.25 p.m. train. SATUBDAY, OCTOBEB 2. Northern Porta, per Wanaka, at 7.30 p.m. Guard's van must not be w>ed for this mail. TUESDAY, OCTOBEB 5. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Bingarooma. The mail for the United Kingdom, &c, via San Franciaco, will (close on October the 9th next. This mail will be due in London on November 23rd. The_ next mail for the Uniteu Kingdom, &c, via Brindiai (for specially addressed correspondence only) will close on October 20th.
