CRICKET.

The annual general meeting of the members of the Kangiora Cricket Club was held at the Junotion Hotel on Tuesday evening. There, was a fair attendance ; the president (Mr O. Merton) in the ohair. Mr ~E. R Good, the treasurer, read a statement of accounts for the past year, showing a small balance in hand, but stating that several liabilii ies hod yet to be liquidated. He also read the batting and bowling averages for tho past season. Mr Burt moved the adoption of tho report, which was agreed to. Several gentlemen were then elected members of the club. The officers for tho ensuing year were then elected as follows: —President, Mr C. Mertori ; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. R. Good ; captain, Mr G. H. Lee ; deputy-captiin, Mr Good ; committee, Messrs Burt, C. D'Auvergne, Gulliver, Cumberworth and Hammond. It was decided to open the season with a match Married v Single on Saturday, October2nd, to commence at 1 p.m. It was decided that tho subscription be ten shillings for the |year. Berer»l gentlemen made donations of material to the club. It was resolved that any member of the committee absenting himself from three consecutive meetings without Bonding written apology should be unseated. Tbe Harewood road Club opened their season on Saturday last on tho Papanui Olub's ground, which was kindly lent for that purpose, by a scratch match between the members of tho club. Sides were choßen by Meeers E. Bell and D. Reese, the following being tho result of the afternoon's play :—Mr Bell's side, 87 j Mr Reese's side, 44. Next Saturday, the club will practice on their own ground at Mr E. S. Bell's. The United Canterbury Cricket Club will open the season on Saturday, October 2nd, with a match between sides choßen on the ground by the president and vice-president of the club. Members wishing to play are requested to be on the [ground punctually. Play to commence at two o'clock. The following members will represent the Sydenham CO. in their match against the Sunnyside CO., to be played on tho Christchurch C.C. ground, Hagley Park, on Saturday next, at 2 p.m. : —Mesors Chambers, Easton, F. H. Eapenett, G. Fisher, W. G. Hall, F. S. Hall, .Tebson, J. Gordon, E. Pavitt, Wilcocks and Willett; emergency— Beare, Day and E. H. Fisher. The follow, ing will represent Sunnyside:—Dr. W. E. Hacon, Messrs Glasson, Bull, O Seager, S. H. Seager, Hancock, T. Smith, Triggs, Moore, Lancaster, White; emergencies, Petrie and W. Hopper. Tbe opening match of the reason of the Kaiapoi Club will be played in Mr J. Hurse's paddock on Saturday, commencing at one o'clook.
