The agents for the steamer Hero (Messrs Cuff and Graham), announce her to leave for Wellington, Sydney and Melbourne on the 18th proximo, carrying passengers at reduced rates. The barque Wara'ah, Captaiu MoArthnr, arrived from Robert Town yesterday with a cargo of Tasmanian produce. She loft there on the 18th current, and had generally moderate weather across. Was off the Peninsula on Monday, and sighted a barque steering N.E.. but did not make her out. Mr W. H. Hargreaves is agent. The New Zealand Shipping Company advertise that ths Waitangi will be dispatched by them from here, carrying wool for the London February sales. The Opnwa, Bangitikei, and Otaki are to follow. The Tni, for Port Robinson and advertised ports, does not leave before to-morrow. THE WAITANGI. A very great amount of interest has been centred in the race (for a race it no doubt has been) from London between the ships Waitangi and Crusader. They left home together on July 3rd, and, as both are well-known favorto traders to Canterbury, more than usual attention was oxoited as to which would arrive here first. This forenoon >he Waitangi made her number at the signal staff, and anchored in the harbor shortly before our despatch left Port. A a will be found elsewhere, she has altogether sixty-four passengers. The New Zealand Shipping Company are hat agents. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Wellington, September 29. Ths steamer Manawatn, on her passage from Wanganui to Wellington, met with a mishap to her engines aad put in to Kapaki, and will be towed into We lirgton to-morrow. New Plymouth, September 29. The steamer Wanaka sailed for Nelson and Southern Ports at 10.30. Posssengers—Miss McDonald, Miss Fitzpatrick. _Mr and Mrs Bonner, Messrs McKenzie and Dickson.
